The opening song on Overkill’s album Under the Influence is the perfect declaration of the band’s musical intent: “Shred! Simply stated/Shred! In a word/Shred! Simply stated/Shred!” With the rise of bands like Metallica and Slayer, the thrash genre that Overkill had helped birth was reaching its peak—and this beloved New Jersey foursome was ready for the competition.

Apr 12,  · Overkill III (Under the Influence), Head First, Brainfade and Mad Gone World are all good songs but are a bit boring and lose there touch in the mix off all the other great songs hence this album is not a five star. As I said Under The Influence isn't the best Overkill album but its defenetly a essential Overkill/Thrash release/5(34).
